With a band name that lacked creativity, an even more unimaginative album title, and cover art that had cliché written all over it, I wasn't quite sure what to expect from BLOOD TSUNAMI and their debut album, "Thrash Metal". But being open minded, I popped in the CD to hear what I was getting myself into, and the surprise was actually good. Formed in 2004, BLOOD TSUNAMI dedicate themselves to old school 80's Thrash Metal influenced mostly by bands like SLAYER, TESTAMENT and KREATOR. They went through a few lineup changes, leading up to the recruitment of Faust (ex-EMPEROR) on drums. With "Thrash Metal" the band offers great quality Thrash loaded with double bass drums, fast riffs and melodic solos. As far as vocals go, it's pretty much what you'd expect to hear from a Thrash band.

Each song on "Thrash Metal" is aggressive, brutal and filled with intensity, and this album delivers from start to finish. Songs like "Let Blood Rain" and "Rampage Of Revenge" are guaranteed to please all the Thrash Metal purist who grew up listening to bands like EXODUS and DESTRUCTION. For those who like instrumentals, the good news is that there is a ten minutes plus song called "Godbeater". And for those who hate instrumentals, the bad news is...the instrumental is a ten minutes plus song.

This band and this album are a good example of why you should never judge a book (or CD) by its cover. What BLOOD TSUNAMI lack in marketing they make up for in talent and intensity. While BLOOD TSUNAMI aren't re-inventing anything, they still write music good enough to get noticed. Definitely a band to look out for.
