You will have to forgive Kansas' DISKREET for an apparent lack of spelling acumen. At the very least, you ought to. If you should fail at this, DISKREET will take your face (which they have just melted off), staple it back to your skull using only the orbital bones and rusty staples, and melt it off again. DISKREET have come to set themselves apart by providing the most satisfying aural assault you've had in a while, so get that glass jaw ready, son.
A relatively young band with an impressive resume of bands played with, reading more like a who's who of contemporary Technical Death Metal rather than a simple thanks list in the back of an album, "Engage The Mechanility" sees DISKEET honing their skill set of punishing drums, gutterals as deep as your last bout of heartburn, and buzz saw guitars to the level of deadly ferocity rarely seen in a band this young. For only existing properly for seven years, DISKREET deserve a spot in your brain next to ANNOTATIONS OF AN AUTOPSY and ORIGIN, the latter of whom DISKREET has played with and a fact which, in and of itself, should at least afford "Engage The Mechanility" a listen based on pedigree of contemporaries alone.
From start to finish, "Engage The Mechanility" is a full on assault, guaranteed to cause some neck injuries, broken teeth, and above all else smiles. In a world seemingly dominated by a sound rapidly growing tiresome it’s bands like DISKREET that will transcend the trend and usher in a new era of what Heavy Metal is about. They have taken the influence, the popular sound, and kept an ear out for new and exciting ways to bash your skull in without coming across as aping contemporaries or simply rehashing the same blastbeat breakdown formula. While there is no doubt that, given the velocity and brutality that DISKREET play with, earmarks of Technical Death Metal (read Deathcore) are present but the package itself is fresh. Plug it into your ears.
