GOD FORBID - Ozzfest Off Dates
- June 30, 2004

Here is the announcement from Century Media's official website:

"New Jersey metal titans GOD FORBID will continue their rigorous U.S. touring schedule all summer long on Ozzfest, which kicks off in Hartford, CT. on July 10th. The quintet also locked down a series of Ozzfest off-dates alongside such premier artists as Dimmu Borgir, Slayer and Superjoint Ritual, among others. Their new video for "Antihero" directed by Dale Resteghini (Fear Factory, Hatebreed), is now complete; look for it to make its Fuse and MTV2 debuts early next month. The track comes off the group's critically acclaimed disc, Gone Forever, which is a nine-track opus that immediately raised the bar for all other bands in their genre, blending a ferocious amount of blistering solos, massive hooks and unrelenting aggression.

Doc Coyle (guitars) checks in with the following update on the group’s recent activities: "We just got back from Europe as part of the New Wave Of American Heavy Metal tour. It was great to play and hang out again with all of our buddies in Chimaira, Killswitch Engage and Shadows Fall. This may have been one of our drunkest tours ever. A good 95% of the shows were sold out, so we'd like to thank those bands for bringing us out and giving us invaluable exposure. This was GOD FORBID's first time in Europe outside of the UK, with shows in Holland and Germany. We would definitely like to make it back overseas to do a full European tour at the end of this year or beginning of 2005. We're working on some scenarios right now that could be very exciting.

We have been on the road since the day Gone Forever came out, and we are really appreciating the couple weeks of rest to recharge our batteries before Ozzfest starts. I can't describe in words how excited we are to be a part of this tour. It's going to be unreal! Make sure to get there early to check out the Hellfest resembling 2nd stage. Also, our off-date tour is turning out to be a dream come true as well. The majority of the dates have us sharing the bill with Hatebreed, Slayer and Slipknot, as well as a few more shows with Dimmu Borgir and Bleeding Through. Here is the entire off-date itinerary:

Ozzfest off-dates

7/11 Augusta Civic Center - Augusta, ME w/ Slipknot, Slayer, Hatebreed
7/13 Chez Dagobert - Quebec City, QC w/ Dimmu Borgir
7/15 Penny Arcade - Rochester, NY w/ Dimmu Borgir, Bleeding Through
7/17 Glens Falls Civic Center - Glens Falls, NY (Aggressive Music Fest w/ SJR, Slipknot, Slayer)
7/21 Rafters - Johnson City, TN w/ Devildriver, Hatebreed, Otep, Throwdown
7/26 Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver, BC w/ Dimmu Borgir, Otep
7/28 Columbia Meadows - St. Helens, OR w/ Slipknot
7/30 Huntridge Theatre - Las Vegas, NV w/ Dimmu Borgir, Bleeding Through
8/6 Canyon Amphitheatre - Lubbock, TX w/ Slipknot, Slayer, Hatebreed
8/9 Riverfest Amphitheater - Little Rock, AR w/ Slipknot, Slayer, Hatebreed
8/13 U.S. Cellular Center - Cedar Rapids, IA w/ Slipknot, Slayer
8/18 Corel Centre - Ottawa, ON w/ Slipknot, Hatebreed
8/20 Bogarts - Cincinnati, OH w/ Dimmu Borgir, Bleeding Through
8/25 Crowbar - State College, PA w/ Devildriver, Hatebreed, Otep, Throwdown
8/27 Darien Lake Performing Arts Center - Darien Center, NY w/ Slipknot, Slayer, Hatebreed
8/29 Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre - Virginia Beach, VA w/ Slipknot
8/30 Ground Zero - Spartanburg, SC w/ Devildriver, Hatebreed, Otep, Throwdown

Along with the dates on Ozzfest, these will be the biggest shows we've ever played so a lot of thanks to Slipknot, Slayer, Jamey and Hatebreed, and Dimmu Borgir for putting GOD FORBID on. This will be a summer to remember and not just for us. We are having a once-in-a-lifetime contest where you can actually announce GOD FORBID from the stage of Ozzfest at each date of the tour. There will be one winner per Ozzfest date so get your entry in quickly. The tour is only a few days away. All of the details can be found at www.ozzfest.com.

Other news to report: The "Antihero" video is done and a big thanks to Dale Resteghini and his crew for their tireless effort in making a classic video. This thing came out sick!

The new GOD FORBID website, www.godforbid.com, has also been completed. We are just tweaking a couple of things before it goes up. It will be up by the time Ozzfest starts. This thing has been taking forever and we apologize. We are itching to get it up too. It looks great. Props to Larry Cooney at Dirty Digital Designs. Gotta run. Peace.""

STRATOVARIUS Confirmed For Two More Shows
- June 30, 2004

STRATOVARIUS' webmaster has posted this message on the band's official website:

"There has been two additions to the summer schedule. Stratovarius (with Timo Kotipelto on vocals) will play at GATES OF METAL http://www.gatesofmetal.se/) in Hultsfred on July 31st, 2004. That showtime is at midnight.

The next day, August 1, they will play at ANKKAROCK (http://www.ankkarock.fi/) outside Helsinki. That showtime is yet to be determined, check their website later for details.

Moreover can we announce that the rumours are true, the Czech UEFA2004 football team use Stratovarius' music in their dressing room before the games to get in the winning mood! The songs Glory Of The World and Why Are We Here are among the ones they use. This is according to an official information from CTK (the Czech Press Office). So far they won every UEFA 2004 game using this method, and almost 22 games in a row.

Well, TEAM CZECH! You know why you are here.

TO WIN THE GOLD! GOOD LUCK!"

EXODUS - Back From The Road
- June 30, 2004

EXODUS guitarist Gary Holt has posted this message on the band's official website:

"Yahoo, good to be home ! This tour was one motherfuckin' adventure, to put it mildly! We endured everthing from bus fires to blown tires, from London riots( between our crew and security, not myself!) to spilled beers on the front of house desk right before we were to go on at Graspop, which resulted in a blown desk and us having to move EVERYTHING over to another stage at the last minute! From insanity and WAY beyond!

Other than all that kind of bullshit it was great. Met a lot of people, made a lot of new fans( some of the shows were so young it was incredible, a whole new generation of Exodus fans!) and in general, crushed the shit out of a lot of people. Kiler shows, really killer festivals( why they can not do the same stateside I'll never understand) and a whole lot of fun was had.

Now despite all that, do not get the opinion that I think I'm some sort of superhero for surviving it. Quite the contrary, I got home and I felt like a train wreck! But It's been a couple of days now, and I'm feeling quite refreshed. As a matter of fact, I'm ready to do it again as soon as possible! It does not take me long to start getting cabin fever and very soon I'll be missing the road. Playing live for everybody is what I live for, and It's fucking a joy, I'll tell ya'!

But anyway, now that I'm rested up I'll try and stay active here on the illustrious Exo board and keep in touch with everyone and answer as many questions as you all might have.

NOVEMBERS DOOM Sign With The End Records
- June 30, 2004

Chicago-based doom metallers NOVEMBERS DOOM have signed with The End Records. Here is the official press release from the label's official website:

"THE END RECORDS are proud to announce we have signed a wordwide deal with the acclaimed US act, NOVEMBERS DOOM. Hailing from Chicaco, IL NOVEMBERS DOOM have established themselves through the years as one of the top doom acts in the world and possibly the most prominent one in North America. The initial release will be a re-issue of the last full length "To Welcome the Fade." It will contain a bonus CD with unreleased material such as live songs from our tour with The Gathering, the entire and long out-of-print EP "For Every Leaf That Falls," as well as some other possible surprises. Look for it in stores everywhere this October.

The writing process for the 5th full length CD is complete, and will be recorded in October 2004, for an early 2005 release. The early plan is to once again utilise the talents of Grammy winning Neal Kernon for the final mix of the CD. Entitled "The Pale Haunt Departure" it will contain 8 songs, at close to an hour of music. Tracklisting in no specific order: The Pale Haunt Departure, In the Absence of Grace, Dark World Burden, Swallowed By the Moon, The Dead Leaf Echo, Through a Childs Eyes, Collapse of the Falling Throe, and Autumn Reflection.

Plans are still in the works for a live performance to be pro shot for a DVD release in 2005. The band has lots of old footage, and some great handheld camera shows from the last tour, so the bonus material will be plenty. A video shoot for the new CD is also being planned, and possibly something containing old material compiled of old handheld camera clips to also be included."

INTO ETERNITY Gear Up For Fall Tour; Seek Touring Drummer
- June 29, 2004

Canadian progressive death metal progenies INTO ETERNITY has been added to KATAKLYSM’s October European tour with MYSTIC CIRCLE and GRAVEWORM. The band has just returned from Europe, where they gave remarkable performances at Italy's Gods Of Metal Festival and Germany's Rock Hard Festival, and on three dates with Sweden's NAGLFAR (where they received encore requests). INTO ETERNITY's 2004 release "Buried In Oblivion" has been hailed by Revolver Magazine as "a defiantly fresh work filled with stunning virtuosity as well as truly original ideas" and as "the perfect meeting of progressive and death metal" by California’s Skratch Magazine.

However, due to work constraints INTO ETERNITY is looking for a drummer to complete their touring line-up and the Canadian band have issued a call for a talented musicians who share their unique vision. Interested parties should be familiar with the group’s music, and have a desire to give 110% to the band and the tour. Additionally, they need to have professional level equipment, be able to tour worldwide, hold a current passport, and have no criminal record. Parties should take into account that that the band is located in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, where practices prior to touring will be held. If you think you have the talent, experience, and drive to fill this position, please email this address: intoeternitydrummer@adelphia.net.

THE PROJECT HATE In Writing Mode
- June 29, 2004

THE PROJECT HATE have posted this update on their official website:

"We are deep into the writing of the the material for our 4th full-length to be recorded in December of 2004, in Soundlab Studios, Sweden. 3 nine-minute-tracks are fully completed and we have alot of stuff to arrange and put together for songs as well. Seeing that the God Among Insects thing has been taking Lord K Philipson's time as of late, it's good to see that we are now back on track with writing for TPH.

It seems that last album "Hate, Dominate, Congregate, Eliminate" is finally getting out everywhere, and the US will see it in September finally. We have started to do some interview for this album now which feels kinda strange as it was recorded over a year ago. Better late than never, huh?

What can we say about the new material then? It definitely carries on from what we did on "HDCE", but it feels like we have gotten into a more brutal direction with this one. Don't you worry, all the elements we are known for are still there, probably even more so this time around, thanx to the new equipment we use. Ms. Jo Enckell's gotten some material to work with already and we all look forward to hear what she's come up with this time around. It's still some 6 months before the rcording, but with this pace we should have the stuff ready in a few months, now when we can concentrate solely on TPH.

That's a brief update for you.

JUDAS PRIEST To Play The Hits On Ozzfest
- June 28, 2004

Billboard.com has posted this report on JUDAS PRIEST:

"After 14 years apart, the seeds of reunion between Judas Priest and its former lead singer Rob Halford were planted, cultivated and harvested in just a matter of hours last year.

"We actually made the decision in a meeting about the British box set. We went into the meeting with no intention of discussing reformation and when we came out, we decided to do it," guitarist Glenn Tipton tells Billboard.com. "It was a completely spur-of-the-moment decision. We had offers for two or three years and as you know, Rob was doing his solo thing and [Priest was touring] with [singer Tim] Ripper [Owens], [so] we turned them down. But then we just realized that if we didn't do it now, we'd never do it. It was that simple."

With the mammoth five-disc (four CD/one DVD) career-spanning box set "Metalogy" having arrived in stores last month, Judas Priest is currently on tour in Europe, readying for its high-profile slot on Ozzfest 2004, which begins July 10 in Hartford, Conn. With a set list aimed directly at a new generation of metal fans, the legendary band is playing it straight this time out.

"It is not really a greatest hits [tour] but it is total classic Priest," says Tipton. "We felt that after 14 years, that is what people not only want but deserve. So, instead of trying to be clever, or playing long-lost numbers or things that really people didn't expect, we felt that for these summer dates, the set list should just include classic Priest. So, that is what we are giving them." This includes "Breaking the Law," "Living After Midnight," "You've Got Another Thing Comin'," "Green Manalishi (With the Two Prong Crown)," "Beyond the Realms of Death" and more.

Tipton says the band's next disc, which is completely written and recorded with only overdubs outstanding, will be out later this year, with a follow-up tour on tap for 2005. The guitarist said he couldn't disclose the title of the album, which will be released by Sony.

While he's looking forward with Priest, Tipton can't help but look back at what former frontman Owens provided the band.

"We consider the Ripper years [to be] great years," says Tipton. "We did two fantastic albums -- 'Jugulator' and 'Demolition' -- and it proved a lot to ourselves and to the fans, and it proved to be very interesting, a slightly different angle to the band. And it was certainly commendable from Ripper's point of view particularly, and I think [important] for the band's survival through difficult years. So, I think it does make the reunion, I suppose, more nostalgic in that sense."

HELIX To Film 30th Anniversary Show
- June 27, 2004

HELIX frontman Brian Vollmer has posted this message on the band's official website:

"Lately we've been blessed with several fortunate happenings. Firstly, Steelback Beer stepped in to sponsor our 30th Anniversary Concert. On Friday June 18th I judged the Steelback Karoke contest at Fanshaw College. Russ Blackburn won the first prize of $10,000.00, and it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. He says he's going to use the money to set up a college fund for his kids. Thanks to Frank J. D'Angelo for his help with the concert and for running the contest. Also thanks to Scott Curran from The Hawk for all his invaluable guidance in helping to promote this special once-in-a-lifetime event.

Earlier this week I was contacted by Warren Stewart of E.M.I. about the possibility of filming the 30th anniversary concert and releasing it later as a DVD with bonus tracks. I readily agreed and it looks like it's going to happen. E.M.I. will be bringing in a four man camera crew and filming throughout the day. Cool, huh? I’m set to meet with E.M.I. and the film company this Tuesday just before I jump on our flight to St. John's, Newfoundland.

E.M.I. is shooting for an August release on this CD. I'm also putting together my own anniversary CD entitled "NEVER TRUST ANYONE OVER 30". It will be mostly songs from our independent releases as opposed to E.M.I.'s, which will of course, be mostly E.M.I. product. E.M.I.'s release will primarily be for the territory of Canada, although it will be available in the U.S. My release will not be available in Canada as I have "Tug O' War" and "Sleepin' In the Doghouse Again" on this disc, and the songs are still licensed to Aquarius in Canada.

After the Rockin' In My Outer Space CD was completed I realized I needed to have more vocals in the band as some of the songs were lacking in that department. I had to let Dan Faucett go (never an easy thing to do) and at that point Sean Sanders decided to leave the band as well. Both were excellent people and musicians when they worked for me in Helix and I wish them the very best of luck.

Replacing Sean and Dan on guitar are Rhino Wiechmann (of the Newfoundland band KAOS-the same band that Gerry Finn came from) and Jim Lawson, whom people would know from Cherry Smash (another William Seip band). Ironically it was KAOS that opened for Helix on our very last tour of Newfound in 1987! Reiner plays guitar/keyboards and sings and Jim plays guitar and sings. Reiner's wife Cindy (who was the lead singer for KAOS) sang on several tracks on the Rockin' In My Outer Space CD so I asked her if she’d like to "guest appear" on the local Helix dates. She readily agreed. At our first practise together it sounded so good that I made the decision to hire her for the St. John's, Newfoundland show and also for our dates out west. Cindy also plays guitar which adds a whole new dimension to our live sound. Seeing as husband "Rhino" plays keyboards, in songs such as Dream On Rhino can switch to piano, Cindy to acoustic guitar, and Jim can handle the electric guitar parts. Cindy also plays all the percussion stuff like tamborine, cowbell, and an assortment of other percussion instruments.

The new set features several new songs that capitalize on the fact Cindy is in the band. On "Six Feet Underground" for instance, Cindy sings back-up and plays acoustic guitar. In "Lint and Pennies" she adds the parts originally sang by Cheryl Lescom."

BEHEMOTH - New Album Update
- June 26, 2004

BEHEMOTH's Nergal has posted this update regarding their upcoming album "Demigod":

"Guess some of you are hungry for news. First of all, the whole recording process takes more time than we have expected. It's due to our incredibly high demands towards our possibilities. We try to bring out the best of the potential we have, in order to make the most challenging work to date. We've just completed laying down bass tracks and the right-channel guitar tracks. In the meantime, I also do some vocals here and there. It looks like it's gonna be the most aggressive and intense vocal work I've ever done. Soon I will be joined by guitarist Seth, and we'll start working on solos."

Bassist Orion said: "The rhythm section sounds perfect. We've managed to obtain a bass sound just as we needed: powerful, formidable, low-set and aggressive simultaneously, with the band's characteristic 'drive.' Nergal stays in the studio still, in order to do the remaining tracks: guitars, solos and vocals. Today, I was witnessing recording of first vocal parts to 'Conquer All'. With no doubt, it's the best vocals I've ever heard by the band. Nergal is at his best, and so he does as much as possible. The effects are to be seen and heard immediately: ultra-aggression, power and uncompromising intensity. It's hard to name what I've heard...it was a blast!"

In addition, the release of the band's first-ever official DVD, "Fukk.Crush.Create", has been postponed until late August. A European tour with KRISIUN, INCANTATION and RAGNAROK will commence this coming fall.

Motorhead's overwhelmingly loud and fast style of heavy metal was one of the most groundbreaking styles the genre had to offer in the late '70s and they're still recording and touring around the world almost 30 years later. Although the band changed its lineup many, many times - they never changed their raging sound.

LAMB OF GOD - New Album In August
- June 25, 2004

American metal lords LAMB OF GOD have posted this update on their official website:

"The new LAMB OF GOD album "Ashes of the Wake" will be released on Tuesday, August 31, 2004.

The Epic Debut "Ashes of the Wake," is the follow-up to the critically acclaimed 2003 independent release on Prosthetic Records, "As The Palaces Burn" which Revolver Magazine calls "Album of the Year" and Rolling Stone praised "a meticulously crafted metal assault."

Produced by Machine, the new Album "Ashes Of The Wake" includes guest appearances by Megadeth’s Chris Poland and Testament’s Alex Skolnick.

As this goes to press all basic tracks have been laid down -Drummer Chris Adler tells us: "The tracking sessions have been very intense and the vibe in the studio is exciting to say the least. My drum tracks were done in Jersey in May and Randy is done as of today. It's been a giant sonic puzzle and as Willie, Mark, John and Randy have layered onto the basic drum mix - you can feel the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. It's like feeling the ground as a train approaches, you can tell how massive it is - and its coming fast. It's surreal at times - I think everyone involved knows we have a monster on our hands."

TRIVIUM Working On New Material
- June 25, 2004

Orlando, Florida-based metallers TRIVIUM have posted this message on their official website:

"Hey Friends – Great news this month.

But first - a HUGE thank you to the Iced Earth crew and Beyond The Embrace – we had a great time and thanks to the Iced Earth fans and the Beyond The Embrace fans for being so supportive – what else can we say – we had a great time and thank you guys for letting us provide support for the June leg of your tour it was a lot of fun. Thanks to Jesse, Derek and Pete from Seemless for checking out our set at Lupo's, taking a few pics and hanging out with us for a bit - you guys are awesome, we totally appreciate the support and if you haven't had a chance to check out their music do it now its great!!! We've added a few pictures from the tour on our pictures link; check ‘em out when you have a chance.

The rest of this month and most of July will be spent working on and fine-tuning our set and our material for our upcoming Roadrunner debut 2005 release and preparing for the upcoming 2004 Roadrunner Records Road Rage Tour. Hell Yeah!

Trivium will join the Roadrunner Records Road Rage Tour supporting metal giants Machine Head & Chimaria – Matt say's "to be a part of this great tour with these great metal bands – to be able to perform with two of our longtime favorite metal bands is defiantly a great honor and a great privilege." Travis & Corey added "we've seen both bands so many times over the years we've lost count - to be a part of this tour is really exciting and we are ready to hit the road." We will be joining our label mates and Canada 's own 3 Inches Of Blood in direct support for the tour. We look forward to meeting them, hanging out, having a kick ass time and tearing it up. Below is the official Roadrunner Records news release regarding the tour:

New York , NY - Roadrunner Records is proud to announce 2004's installment of the ever-popular international touring phenomenon, ROAD RAGE. Metal titans Machine Head and Chimaira , will co-headline the 4-band bill that will run through the US from early August through mid-September 2004. Supporting acts will be Roadrunner's newest, 3 Inches Of Blood and Trivium .

The bands are very excited to be touring together again, a sentiment shown in Machine Head's Dave McClain's missive "Ever since the 2001 Road Rage tour we've not only remained friends with the Chimaira guys, but we're also huge fans and are proud to share the stage with them one more time. This will prove to be THE best metal tour out there this summer." This is a sentiment echoed by Chimaira's Mark Hunter saying it is an honor to hit the road again with Machine Head would be an understatement. Not only are these guys family to us, but they are THE best live band out there right now. I just caught their show in LA on the Weapons of Mass Destruction tour and it was so good it forced a 10-year pit retiree to put his gloves back on one more time and fuck dudes up. It was that good!

There is love for the baby-bands on the bill as well Canadian metallers, 3 Inches of Blood and Orlando's Trivium . Hunter adds of the openers sharing the stage with Trivium and 3 Inches of Blood will rock because they are both incredible up-and-coming metal bands. We can't wait to help them get the exposure they deserve. 3 Inches Of Blood will be rocking the road to advance their upcoming album ADVANCE AND VANQUISH due out 9/28 and Trivium to preview their as-yet-untitled 2005 release.

We look forward to seeing you on the road

Travis, Matt & Corey

THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER Update
- June 23, 2004

THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER have posted this update on their official website:

"First of all, we in The Black Dahlia camp want to apologize for the lack of updates. From now on, the updates will be handled by Dave and myself, so you can expect to finally know what is going on with the band.

The ETID and Vital Remains tours were a complete success. Thanks to everyone who came out to see us, put us up, etc. We greatly appreciate your kindness.

We also played Download Fest in the UK a few weekends ago. Although we played at the same time as Machine Head AND Hatebreed, the set was a success. We also drank free Aftershock and saw Burst. So fuck you. Props to the guys in Johnny Truant for taking care of us.

The “A Cold-Blooded Epitaph” rerelease is nearing completion, and should be available in the next couple of months. The artwork is again being handled by Black Market Activities own Adam Wentworth.

This brings us up to our most recent BDM news: drummer Cory Grady has been asked to leave the band due to personal and professional conflicts. Cory has been in the band since its inception, and it was not an easy decision on our part. In the good news, we are honored to welcome Zach Gibson to the throne, and can assure you that you will be seeing us on our summer tour with the mighty Cannibal Corpse. We will spend four weeks as direct support for Cannibal, with Severed Savior opening; following will be a two week headlining stint with Cattle Decapitation and Goatwhore, respectively.

Eat pussy and freak out

- Trevor"

CENTURY MEDIA Schedules "A Pure Death Day"
- June 22, 2004

Century Media have announced the release dates of new albums from GRAVE and UNLEASHED! Here is the official posting from their website:

"Century Media has set September 7th as the release date for the new albums from Sweden’s death metal godfathers GRAVE and UNLEASHED.

GRAVE returns with their wicked moshpit inspiring hooks and low-frequency sonic attack, the new album Fiendish Regression crashes down upon the listener with sledgehammer ferocity. After repeated releases and multiple tours inspiring a generation of death metal bands and fans, GRAVE deliver a release that will re-inspire those same bands and a new generation of fans. The band ventured to Abyss Studios (Hypocrisy, Amon Amarth) to work with producers Tommy (Marduk, The Forsaken) and Peter Tägtgren (Dimmu Borgir, Immortal) and delivers a bludgeoning tumultuous recording that delves into the heart of aggression.

UNLEASHED return with their seventh lead-heavy, groove-oriented death metal release entitled Sworn Allegiance. 15 years after their formation, the band still delivers a one-two punch, and where many bands lighten over time UNLEASHED continuously deliver concrete breaking hammer-blows. UNLEASHED have released some of death metal’s most influential albums, notably Where No Life Dwells and Shadows In The Deep. After breaking the band’s five-year silence with 2002’s Hell’s Unlashed, they have returned with an even more intense album. Solidly grounded in massive production the album was mixed by Fredrik Folkare at Chrome Studios and mastered by Peter In de Betou from Tailor Maid Productions (Dimmu Borgir, Amon Amarth)."

STRATOVARIUS - TIMO KOTIPELTO Talking With TIMO TOLKKI Again
- June 21, 2004

STRATOVARIUS vocalist Timo Kotipelto has posted this message on his official website:

"I can announce that I am talking to Timo Tolkki and actively trying to come to terms with what happened between us.

Despite what many people would wish, I can not confirm that I am back in the band, but whether I do go back or not, at least I can say that we have some sort of dialogue now and that we all are trying to help solve all the many problems that his mental illness has caused.

Recently Olof Wikström from Skrikhult had a real emergency when Running Wild dropped out of their commitment to headline Gates Of Metal. I have agreed to sing more show with Stratovarius, partly because I want to help Olof, partly because I want to help Jörg, Jens, Jari and Timo, and of course also because I love to perform live. This means that I will be at Gates of Metal in Hultsfred on July 31st with Stratovarius, and with my solo band at Ankkarock on August 1 instead of the previous day. So, hope to see you there on either concert!

Timo"

KATAKLYSM - Message From Maurizio
- June 18, 2004

KATAKLYSM singer Maurizio Iacono has posted this message on the band's official website:

"Hi Everyone, its been a little while since we came back from the us tour we just did last month..it was a rough ride but we had fun and the fans were nuts..thanks for everyone that came and to Through the discpline,CAnnae and Misery index for being part of it.

In response to the emails we have been receiving about the Crowbar tour and the With full force festival in europe wether we are playing or not the question is NO( and it sucks !) i guess Kataklysm is still advertised who knows !?,we wanted to do the tour and the WFF fest,we have been forced to cancell for family reasons..we really apologize for that.

The band is playing for sure in late August at the UP FROM THE GROUND Festival in Germany ..Kataklysm will be headlining saturday the 28th. This will be the only show of the summer for Kataklysm.

Kataklysm will commence round 2 of the Serenity in Fire touring campaign this fall,we will start with a massive Headlining European tour in october, including a stop to Iceland and followed by another N.american tour if everything goes according to plan.

Some more sponsorships coming our way, that we will announce soon, maybe a new videoclip too..stay tuned

After the storm will calm..Kataklysm will take most of 2005 to put the next album together(something we have never done before.. TAKE OUR TIME!!..even new drummer Martin Maurais only had 1 month to put all his drum tracks on Serenity..so with 4 albums out in 5 years that have all out done each other and all have been highly acclaimed ,we wanna make sure the next one willl be up to par..hell we want it to be our MAsters of puppets!! ...our Reign in Blood!!!...unlike previous statements the album will not be selftitled , I have a killer title for it and will unleash it when the time comes, the reason we are talking next album already is that we have soo many ideas floating around and the writting level is peaking right now, the brutality is flowing to the next level ..so we just wanna start putting shit together and keep working on it til its perfect ..we are still extremely satified with Serenity In fire,we just feel we have some great momentum and wanna keep moving forward"

..and by the way the new Dismember rules!go get it!!!..old school baby!!..

-Maurizio

p.s. death to emo!!..now please!!"

CANNIBAL CORPSE Annihilates South America
- June 17, 2004

CANNIBAL CORPSE bass player Alex Webster has posted this message on the band's official website:

"We have just returned from an 8 show tour of Central and South America. This was the first time we have had the opportunity to do a real tour of South America, and we were very happy with the great response we received down there.

We had played in Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires and Santiago on separate occasions before, so we already knew they had great death metal scenes in those cities. The remaining 5 dates were in cities we had never played before, so we were very pleased to see that their death metal fans were just as brutal as the cities we had already been to.

From what we saw on this tour, we'd have to say the scene down there is incredibly strong, with great, brutal fans, and lots of killer bands.

The next time we tour South America, we'd like to arrange a few "off" days, so we have more time to hang out with the fans we meet and see the cities we play in. The schedule for this tour was pretty hectic at times(we had a 12+ hour journey from Sao Luis to Buenos Aires that stopped at a total of 6 airports, for example), but the energy at the shows more than compensated for any lost sleep on the many flights we had.

We also would like to play in some additional countries next time, as we know they must have great scenes as well.

Now we're heading to Europe for the Waldrock Festival, where we'll get to play for thousands of Dutch metalheads, and share the stage with some of Metal's biggest names. After that, we'll be heading north to Canada, so all of the death metal maniacs up there had better be ready!

We want to give many thanks to all at Tumba records for putting on this tour, and all of the local promoters that brought us to their cities. And of course, most importantly, we want to give massive thanks to the awesome, brutal fans in Brazil, Costa Rica, Argentina and Chile for making the tour the great success that it was.

Thank you!

Alex"

TESTAMENT - Steve Smyth Will Rejoin Band For Rest Of Tour
- June 15, 2004

TESTAMENT's management has issued this statement on the band's official website:

"We are still sorting out the details of this tragedy. Eric lost his footing on the stairs at the venue in Martin, Slovakia, at the Kozel Pub Club, and fell. He broke his leg in 3 places. Chuck also slipped but was not hurt, fortunately, I was told by Beau King, our road manager, Beau said he now has not slept for 2 days.

The band did the show in Martin with Metal Mike covering the guitar parts. We have had this difficulty in the past of having one guitarist, but under very different circumstances to be sure. So, we have been able to give a killer show with lead vocals, drums, bass, and lead guitar before, and we have done it again, and we will do it where we must for now. Testament will always survive their difficulties as many times before.

The band decided it would be best due to the severe injury to go to the hospital in Vienna. So they got emergency treatment in Martin, and left and drove overnight to Vienna. Eric has been admitted in to the hospital and that is what they did today. Sorry for today's scheduled show being missed. He was scheduled for surgery to put pins in his leg and the surgery was done tonight. He will have a full leg cast and cannot walk. He will be in the hospital for about 4 days. We will send someone, probably Walter, back to get him when he is released and he will get back to the band by train. He cannot fly for 2 weeks. I do not know yet the long term effects of this injury. It is very unfortunate.

The band will pick up the schedule tomorrow. Starting next Saturday, our old lead guitar player Steve Smyth will rejoin the band and finish the tour. We will do the next few shows as we did the show in Martin."

CONSTRUCDEAD Bassist Quits!
- June 14, 2004

CONSTRUCDEAD bassist Joakim Harju has posted this message on the band's official website:

"Hi, After five years in Construcdead I have now decided to leave the band. This is not because of any bad blood between us, I love the band and hope they will go far. I'm their No.1 fan!!!

This is a natural step for me, as I've just married my beautiful wife Caroline and I'm about to be a father for the first time in my life.

The other side of it is that I will re-start my old band FACE DOWN along with Marco Aro (Ex.The Haunted), Joacim Carlsson (General Surgery) and Erik from Construcdead (this will not affect his exellent work in Construcdead). This project will give me more time with my family and hopefully more creative satisfaction for me.

I like to thank the band for a wonderful time and for all the good memories I've got, and to our fans, I hope that you will enjoy FACE DOWN almost as much. (Face Down will also be signed to Black Lodge Records)

Joakim H"

JUDAS PRIEST Management - "The PRIEST are well and truly back!!"
- June 8, 2004

JUDAS PRIEST Management Co-ordinator Jayne Andrews has posted this message on the band's official website:

"Hi everyone - I've just got back from spending the first few days on the road with the band in Europe! The shows have been phenomenal!! The PRIEST are well and truly back!!

The 'Gods of Metal' festival in Italy caused some chaos!! After a day of brilliant sunshine there was suddenly the most horrendous storm - the sky turned black and the heavens opened - the roof was ripped off the outdoor stage - absolutely soaking through all of the band's equipment - we thought we were going to have to cancel but when the rain finally stopped the band asked their crew to do everything they could so they could go on stage that night and not disappoint all of the fans!! The crew worked a small miracle and the band went onstage - that show was one of the best so far - the audience went wild - they were more than rewarded for waiting so long in the pouring rain!! I'll be showing you all some photos very soon!

Jayne Andrews"

ARCH ENEMY - "Download" Festival Photos Posted Online
- June 7, 2004

ARCH ENEMY guitarist Michael Amott has posted this message on the band's official website:

"Hello all avid archenemy.net’ers! We just got back home from the enormous music event that is the “Download” festival in the U.K… We played this festival last year (on a much earlier slot!) and we had a killer time and great show – we didn’t think we could top that experience this year…but we were dead wrong! The tent was absolutely rammed with people (between 8 and 10,000 they tell us) when we played our set and we had such a good time – A big thank you to everybody who watched, listened, and screamed along!!! Metal is coming back in the U.K and it’s great to be a part of it.

The set list was as follows:

- The First Deadly Sin
- Instinct
- Burning Angel
- Ravenous
- Dead Eyes See No Future
- Dead Bury Their Dead
- We Will Rise

Yes, that was a pretty intense 35 minutes…!

So all in all, we had a great weekend and we are looking forward to return to the U.K sometime soon hopefully!

Today we start rehearsals for our Japan tour, I might write something here about how that is coming along in a few days….

Metal!

Michael Amott"

THE HAUNTED Sign With Century Media Records
- June 4, 2004

Sweden's THE HAUNTED have signed a worldwide deal with Century Media Records. Here is the full press release from the band's official website:

"Swedish thrash metal titans THE HAUNTED have signed a worldwide multiple-album deal with Century Media Records. The band has already completed work on their highly anticipated, yet still untitled, fourth album which will be released this fall. It will undoubtedly prove once again why Kerrang! labeled the band as "the single greatest exponents of balls-out metal in the world."

Commented by guitarist Anders Björler, "We are happy to have chosen CM for the next couple of albums. CM is a legendary metal label, and we feel strongly they'll support us in the best way possible."

Phil Hinkle, director of A&R for Century Media America, added, "It's an honor to be working with THE HAUNTED, and they make our already outstanding roster that much more stellar." Leif Jensen, A&R manager for Century Media Europe, comments "Personally and professionally, we look forward to lead this great band to full worldwide success. Their time is now!"

Recorded at Gothenburg's famed Studio Fredman (In Flames, Dimmu Borgir, Arch Enemy) with co-producers Patrik J. Steen & Fredrik Nordström and mixed at Denmark's Antfarm Studio by Tue Madsen, the album features such cuts as "All Against All," "99," "Who Will Decide" (featuring a guest appearance by Sick Of It All vocalist Lou Koller) and "Burnt To A Shell." THE HAUNTED also have a new addition to the fold, as original vocalist Peter Dolving, who crushed on the group's genre-defining self-titled debut release, returns with a vengeance.

Regarding Dolving's return and the new album, Anders Björler said, "It's nice to have Dolving back in the band. He's energitic, hardworking and had 1000's of fresh musical ideas upon his return. We look forward to what the future will hold for us as a band. After having recorded this new album I feel confident it will work out extremely well. Be on the look out for something really powerful this fall"

THE HAUNTED burst onto the scene in 1998 with The Haunted, a 12-track assault praised as the Reign In Blood of the '90s and the only debut album to ever receive album-of-the-year honors from Terrorizer. After extensive touring, THE HAUNTED returned with The Haunted Made Me Do It (2000), which held down the number one spot on the CMJ Loud Rock Radio Chart for four weeks and eventually scored the band a Swedish Grammy for Best Hard Rock Album.

In 2003, THE HAUNTED unloaded One Kill Wonder and once again sent the metal world into a frenzy. Fans and media alike responded with unbridled enthusiasm, as Alternative Press named THE HAUNTED one of the 25 most important bands in metal, saying that "there's no greater proponent of modern thrash." The album broke the band's own record on the CMJ Loud Rock chart with a five-week run at the top; it also earned the group a second Swedish Grammy for Best Hard Rock Album.

Earning a splendid reputation as an extremely intense live act, THE HAUNTED have already shared stages and toured the globe with acts as diverse as Slayer, Testament, Entombed, The Crown, Nile, Nasum, Morbid Angel, Vader, HammerFall, In Flames, Napalm Death, Nine, Cannibal Corpse, Dimmu Borgir, Lamb Of God, Witchery, Catastrophic, Martyr AD, Mastodon, Shai Hulud or Funeral For A Friend, among others, and have appeared at respected festivals such as Dynamo, Tuska, Hultsfred, New England Metal and Hardcore Fest, Waldrock, Graspop and Wacken Open Air. Further heavy worldwide touring action is set to happen after the new album's release.

Upcoming confirmed appearances of THE HAUNTED are as follows:

09.06. Copenhagen (DK) - Stengade + Entombed
10.06. Sölvesborg (S) - Sweden Rock Festival
25.06. Le Mans (F) - Fury Fest
05.07. Athens (GR) - Athens Open Air

Expect THE HAUNTED to raise the bar even further with their new album, hereby cementing their legacy as the leading European metal band of today!

The Haunted's 2004 Line-Up:

Peter Dolving - Vocals
Anders Björler - Guitar
Jonas Björler - Bass
Jensen - Guitar
Per Möller Jensen - Drums

Visit www.centurymedia.de, www.centurymedia.com or www.the-haunted.com for an exclusive pre-listening of the brand new track "99", coming off the new album. Exact worldwide release dates for the album through Century Media Records will be announced soon!

EXODUS' Tour Bus Catches On Fire
- June 4, 2004

EXODUS guitarist Gary Holt has posted this message on the band's official website:

"Well, as some of you might of already heard yes our bus caught on fire somewhere between Rome and Bergamo Italy. I awoke to our driver shouting " everybody off the bus, the bus is on fire!" and I ran like a bitch outta' that motherfucker! Flames were shooting outta' the back of that fucker bigtime! Everyone made it out alive so that's the good part, and none of our luggage or gear were damaged but that was it for the bus. All we could do was fuckin' laugh, what else can you do! We were singing " the bus, the bus, the bus is on fire, we don't need no water let the motherfucker burn!" And then we hear the sound system at the next gig had caught fire as well! What the fuck!!!!! Then we get to the gig( after MANY HOURS!) and our power converter blows, so we can't run our U.S. equipment. So Rick runs a distortion box through a bass head, I franticly try to get a 5150 working, with success in the end. No soundcheck, almost no gear, but fuck it, if there's one thing this band will not do is tuck tail and run! We went and did what many others bands would not, we didn't bitch and moan, we fuckin' rocked! We once again did what others would not, we got our asses in a couple of vans and headed to the ferry to get our asses to Greece. Luckily we found what is undoubtedly the last remaing tour bus in Europe and we hook up with that in a few days. Until then we're vanin' it. But the show must go on motherfuckers! And all the shows have been killer, there's no fuckin' way I'm backin' down now! I'll try to keep everyone updated as much as possible. Til' then, keep up the faith motherfuckers!

Gary"

EIDOLON Part Ways With Singer Pat Mulock - Announce Replacement
- June 4, 2004

EIDOLON drummer Shawn Drover has issued this update on the band's official website:

"This update is to inform that we have decided to part ways with our singer, Pat Mulock for reasons of both a musical and personal nature. I express no interest in giving any childish, gory details or go into any specific's as to why we have decided to take this path - it simply wasent working for us anymore on a musical level mostly , so in all fairness to the band, a change is nessesary at this point in time - we do wish Pat luck on his future musical endeavors.

So once again we are left with the arduous position of trying to find a new "family" member, as it were - A task ( and I think I speak for Glen and Adrian here as well ) that we are not fond of. At this juncture of the game finding the "right guy for the job" 1 who expresses the same musical goals as well as sharing the same outlook on this retarded business and NOT be dissillutional about it is not an easy thing - we certainly don't do this for money - if we did, we certainly are playing the wrong type of music!!!!!!!!!!! we do this for completely selfish reasons, which to me, is the ONLY reason to play music - to express ouselves in a genuine fashion and not bow to any pathetic trends - in the end, we do this for ourselves 1st and hope to expand our fan base with each release.

As well, the "right" vocalist has to be great in all facet's - melodic, wide range of vocal style's, great frontman and 1 who can rip your face off in a live setting - in other words, a complete pro!!!!!! unfotunately, - this type of vocalist does not grow on tree's here in North America - Europe however, is a different story, so we decided to try a different approach in finding who we were looking for.......

It didn't take too long to figure out who we wanted to fill this position - Since late December, Glen and myself have been working on a record called " DIMENSION INFINTE" which also features 3 members of a band called Pagans Mind, who, in my opinion, are a fantastic metal-progish style band from Norway ( great guys as well, actually ) their singer - Nils.K.Rue is lending his talents for this record, in which he, Ronni and Steinar ( bass and keyboards, respectively ) are currently working on as I write this. After seeing Pagans Mind last fall at "Progpower" festival, I was blown away on how great of a live performer Nils was - something that now has played a part on us approaching him to become the new singer for EIDOLON. In my opinion, Nils has all the elements of we want in a great singer, so after contacting him and offering him the "job", I am happy to say that Nils.K.Rue is now the new vocalist for EIDOLON!!!!!!

We are very excited about the future of the band, and we are very much looking forword to start recording the next Eidolon record, which will happen in early fall-2004!!!!!!

cheers
Shawn - EIDOLON"
