BLACK LODGE Roster Updates
- December 29, 2004
Sweden's very own Black Lodge Records has set some 2005 album release dates:
January 24: ELVIRA MADIGAN - Angelis Deamonae
February 28: SABATON - Primo Victoria
March 29: ETERNAL OATH - Wither / MAZE OF TORMENT - Hammers Of Mayhem
April 18: CONSTRUCDEAD - Wounded EP / HELLFUELED - Midnight Lady EP
Release dates for these albums are subject to change.
Here is some more Black Lodge band news:
8TH SIN are rehearsing their asses off right now to improve their performance and get ready for live shows in 2005. During the last months the band has also been busy making two videos from the album "Sinners Inc" and also doing photo session. Another cool news is that 8TH SIN has been endorsed by Shure microphones, and will be using Shure microphones and wireless systems exclusively during the 2005 shows.
Goth/Death masters ETERNAL OATH have finally completed their new album. The album, which will be titled "Wither", was recorded at Studio Fredman and mastered at Polar studios. Twelve songs have been finalized and is ready for release on March 29, 2005. Stay tuned for the release of this masterpiece of raw/melodic mayhem!
Time to get HELLFUELED! Watch out for the forthcoming January 2005 issue of ROCK HARD MAGAZINE Germany. The track "Let Me Out" will be on the bonus CD that goes with the magazine. There will be nearly 80.000 CD´s printed...!!!
Black Lodge are also very happy to inform the world that they have signed an long-term deal with one of Sweden´s finest metal bands, SABATON. The first album will be released on Feb 28, 2005 and in Scandinavia on March 9. "Primo Victoria" is based on the concept of war, with nine songs being recorded in Abyss Studios in February 2004, mastered at Polar Studios. The album cover artwork is by Mattias Norén of Progart Media.
ELVIRA MADIGAN's Marcus H. Madigan also has this message for the fans:
Hi everyone. To round off this year it is highly appropriate to share what's going on. First, the long awaited - highly anticipated covers album "Angelis Deamonae - Wiccan Aftermath" will be released the 24th of January, but You can already pre-order signed copies of the CD directly from the www.elviramadigan.com site - which by the way is completely new (the site that is). If You haven't checked out this enormous database of info - be sure to do so, and I will surely become a very happy man indeed.
Secondly, well it's now been more than 18 months since the recording sessions for the upcoming original album began (in April 2003). Practically everything is put on tape except vocals and keyboards (and some additional smaller details) but things are coming together nicely. The things I have left to record are all rather critical stuff and will decide the overall feel of the whole piece so it will most likely take some time. The album will almost definitely be called "Regent Sie" though...
Since these sessions take up most of my time there are unfortunately not that much else to share "news wise". It might seem like nothing much has happened for some time in the Elvira Madigan realm but fact is the reality is much to the contrary and the engine has been (and is!) running on full throttle.
Cheers for now and Merry Christmas and all that."

EIDOLON - Update From Shawn Drover
- December 28, 2004
EIDOLON/MEGADETH drummer Shawn Drover has posted this update on EIDOLON's official website:
"Just thought I would drop a line here to wish all a great holiday season!!!! For obvious reasons ( Glen and myself joining MEGADETH ) I havent posted much new info in regards to EIDOLON, to which the news is basically the same - We are recording the new record, ( Drum tracks were completed in October ) though now it will be done in between MEGADETH tours, etc. To be honest, it's really not much different than how we've always recorded our records - we have always done so in this fashion, so nothing different in this respect, really. Next in line for recording are Glens guitar tracks, which he is looking to complete before we head out on tour in late January, 2005. ( If all goes well, that is ) We are not going to rush this record, there is no reason to do so, really.
We are hoping to have it released sometime in late 2005, so we'll see how that goes. I can assure you that this will be the best record we have made thus far - the material is very strong and diverse - something that we always strive for as musicians - to expand and grow, this is all that matters to us, really. I will get back to you when more musical matters develope!!!"

MOB RULES - Year-End Wrap-Up
- December 22, 2004
German melodic power metallers MOB RULES have posted this year-end wrap-up on their official website:
"This year is approaching its end - exciting, thrilling, busy and successful but straining and frustrating in some moments. This is to wish you a merry Christmas and to all of yours and you have already got the flowery phrases of a happy New Year from everyone around. So we'd like to feed you with a short outline of Past - Present - Future:
Talking about a knotty year would partly meet the matter.
It was in May 2004, when our fourth album has been launched - "Among The Gods" - and attracted great acceptance with press and all of you. The following up release - show at the Pumpwerk in Wilhelmshaven was goose bumping in some parts to all of us and a special great night - Thanks a lot for that!
Summer was that time, when Oliver quitted as our lead guitar player. He had a tough choice - we all know that - and he tore a hole in both ways: as a great musician and a real friend!
Luckily Sven Lüdge fills his part right now. For he was with MURDER ONE before, we knew he would suit the band not by just being a terrific guitar player but having a tremendous person with us.
The first performances in Emden, Nordenham, Leer and France have been a great experience for us to look forward composing the material for the following studio recording with him.
A shattering blow was the rapid cancellation of these plannings:
Concert - Tour with Europe
Touring South Europe with Saxon
Show with Regicide in Osnabrück
No idea what went wrong. We have done all we could do to enter these stages but had to kick it for impossible terms.
But our fan club machine ploughs up - thanks to Timo, Jens and Neele! With this growing community and your support you energize the band for more coming up projects.
The business is increasing monthly with our label Steamhamer/SPV working hell for leather and our management UTM.
What's up in 2005? The focus is on the `Pumpwerk` DVD, recorded last summer in Wilhemshaven and coming to the final cut right now, with our claim to be perfect in sound and picture. We also set premium material to complete it of higher value. This is a challenge, taking still a few weeks to work on, but the release is planned for the beginning of May 2005.
At the same time we want to have our first tour as a headliner band. The concert artist's agency in Berlin and our management in Hannover still check and organize the dates where likely a few smaller festivals are coming along. We are curious about the tour's schedule!
All up, after a so-so year, being perfectly equipped with members we are proud of having solid and faithful fans and highly motivated starting to write the songs for our fifth album. More than ever we can feel it: The best MOB RULES album is still to come!
Should there be any smashing news to the DVD, any touring dates or other exciting things , you are the first to know on our web pages. That's it for the moment - all the best from MOB RULES!
p.s. The latest ordering for our shirts are about to get on www.tws-music.de, TWS Mail order system.

ACCEPT - Deaffy Interview Part II Online
- December 21, 2004
Joe Schlared's ACCEPT Home Page With U.D.O. has posted part II of the interview with longtime ACCEPT manager Gaby Hoffmann (also known as the alias "Deaffy"). Here are a few excerpts from the interview:
Schlared: "How did ACCEPT and yourself meet in the very beginning?"
Gaby Hoffmann: "Wolf and Peter came to my office to introduce themselves to me. At that time I had a very busy company and actually no time for them. I could not possibly sign on another act. But - life was meant to be different. It was Peter and other circumstances - not Wolf - who made me change my mind!"
Schlared: "When you guys move back to Germany, Wolf's plan is to form a new band? Will there be a new Classical album managed by you?"
Gaby Hoffmann: "Yes and this time I hope, I can get Wolf to perform it (live) in 2006."

THE CENTURY FAMILY Celebrate Christmas BallS
- December 21, 2004
Los Angeles metalheads jammed the Key Club last night for an early Christmas present: The Century Family's inaugural Christmas BallS. Headlining the evening STRAPPING YOUNG LAD proudly premiered a new song "Love" from their forthcoming album "Alien" due out March 22. Attacking with monstrous ferocity, SYL also played songs from their entire Century Media catalog.
Bay Area thrash legends DEATH ANGEL delivered a knockout moshpit inspiring performance. Frenzied fans witnessed old and new favorites, including the recent "Thicker Than Blood" from this year's "The Art Of Dying", as well as traditional set closer "Kill As One". If you weren't lucky enough to witness the mayhem in person fear not: the immortal five-piece are gearing up for their spring 2005 tour along side KREATOR, VADER and IF HOPE DIES. Be prepared to learn the Art Of Thrashing!
Hometown hard-rocking three-piece NEBULA, representing Liquor and Poker Music, captivated the audience with their rock n' roll wizardry. The band managed to keep the attention of the most die-hard metal fans in attendance with their unique brand of "cosmic" rock. Featuring former members of FU MANCHU, NEBULA's "Atomic Ritual" garnered critical acclaim by Entertainment Weekly and Alternative Press to name just a few.
Oakland's gore-encrusted masters of guitar riffage IMPALED sliced into the crowd with scalpel-sharp precision. Eviscerating spectators, the band premiered songs from Death After Life their forthcoming Century Media debut (street date: March 8). Bassist Ross Sewage (ex-EXHUMED), noting the bands medical mastery and touting that they had effectively bottled the Ebola and HIV viruses, contaminated the audience with Silly String.
Orange County's EYES OF FIRE opened the show by performing one new 20-minute song, stunning the crowd. Featuring former members of MINDROT, the band's 2004 Century Media debut "Ashes To Embers" heralded in the dark flavors of atmospheric rock. The band is warming up for their trio of dates with DANZIG (featuring Doyle) later this month.
The Century Family would like to thank everyone who attended the concert, which based on turnout and crowd enthusiasm, should become and annual event.

ACCEPT - First Ever Interview With Deaffy Online
- December 18, 2004
Joe Schlared's ACCEPT Home Page With U.D.O. has posted a recent interview with longtime ACCEPT manager Gaby Hoffmann (also known as the alias "Deaffy" - widely known throughout the '80s). Gaby Hoffmann (also wife of guitarist Wolf Hoffmann) was also the band's main lyricist. She wrote lyrics for a few songs on "Restless And Wild" and then all the songs from "Balls To The Wall" onward. She had declined all previous interview requests in the past, making this the very first one. Here are a few excerpts from the interview:
Schlared: "The Balls To The Wall album, the band had to fight off SO MANY questions about the sexual connotations in the songs... namely with London Leatherboys, Head Over Heels and Love Child. Finally(!) can we get your thoughts and feelings on these songs?"
Gaby Hoffmann: "Let me answer this and (the next) question in one, ok? I have been very rebellious and by no means I would have written anything "normal"! Never! The sexual question about the context of certain lyrics are mind games and pure interpretation from outsiders. This is a band who has as individuals -so little to do with controversy and absolutely nothing in particular with anything but being VERY straight. I can only say, all the lyrics have much deeper meaning than that and it surprised me, how little the public tried to find something else, than only one interpretation. However, it made the band one of the very, very first who have been in such a controversy - many famous bands mentioned that ACCEPT have been very innovative and inspiring, because of their boldness to mention everyday life problems - from justice to mercy killing and so on....."
Schlared: "Was there ever a point in the 80s that everyone came close to just revealing the secret no matter what everyone else thought?"
Gaby Hoffmann: "No - no one will ever believe how close and how ONE MINDED we where of certain aspects. If we ever differed, it was because I wanted more and more and more of their talent. I knew they had it and I always believed, we have seen nothing yet. If there ever was a thought to quit, it was out of exhaustion, because I never did let got. I respected our fans so much, that I insisted on being the best they could all the time - forever..."

STRAPPING YOUNG LAD Frontman Checks In
- December 16, 2004
STRAPPING YOUNG LAD frontman Devin Townsend has checked in with this update on the making of the band's new album, "Alien":
"The "Alien" record was written in response to yet another year of more shit. Gene Hoglan (drums) and I found ourselves in Vancouver, broke, after a year of touring. One of the cool things about the touring was being on the road with MESHUGGAH, which made Gene and I want to freak out for ourselves in the same way they were doing. We had the benefit and disadvantage of being by ourselves while Byron (bass) and Jed (guitars) were off doing their individual things away from home. Gene and I rehearsed for months until we got into the Armoury Studios in late September, where Gene played all his parts in three days. Then we moved to Greenhouse Studios, where the guitars, bass and keys/samples were laid down. I did vocals in my basement, and the mix was done in Richmond, B.C., by Shaun Thingvold and mastered by Greg Reely.
The record isn't about anything in particular; it's just a freak out. The idea is to have something cathartic to put on, and the title 'Alien' just seemed fitting. It has no meaning beyond that. Metal is our life; we are qualified to do little else and we can do crazy things with our instruments. We are too ugly to play pop, so we decided to fuck shit up again. This album seemed a good excuse to exercise full excess. When there is double kick, we make it super-fast and all the time. Same with anything — scream as high and as long as you can, then distort it and add echo, then put explosions behind it. The sky's the limit.
The only theme worth mentioning on the record is that it starts bitter and ends 'resolved to be confused.' It's definitely metal and if you have any doubts, please listen to it first to see if it's something you would like. But know this: We live for this shit and it has never been about spandex, eyeliner, wigs and ironic DOKKEN shirts. It's about the crunch, the kick and the power. The new themes might be closer to more everyday topics than 'City', and you may or may not relate, but it really doesn't matter as long as you get our drift (...it's about unicorns and rainbows and stuff.) 'Alien' is just the next SYL record and the acoustic song is supposed to make you feel worse...not better. Unhealthy music for healthy minds."
"Alien" is slated to be released on March 22, 2005 through Century Media.
STRAPPING YOUNG LAD will premiere material from "Alien" at the Century Family's inaugural Christmas BallS, taking place next Monday, Dec. 20 at Los Angeles' Key Club. The band will perform alongside Century Family artists DEATH ANGEL, NEBULA, IMPALED, and EYES OF FIRE. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster for the low price of $15. DIMEBAG DARRELL - Photos From Memorial Posted

Fans And Musicians Mourn DIMEBAG DARRELL At Memorial
- December 14, 2004
This report comes from Bobby Ross Jr. of The Associated Press:
"Fans chanted "Dimebag, Dimebag, Dimebag" and guitarists Eddie Van Halen and Zakk Wylde delivered profanity-laced tributes at a public memorial service Tuesday night (held in Arlington, TX) for slain rock star "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott.
"I'm here for the same reason as everyone else, to give some love back...," Van Halen told the crowd of several thousand people, many wearing concert T-shirts.
"This guy was full of life. He lived and breathed rock 'n' roll...." Van Halen said.
Fans began lining up late Tuesday afternoon to get into the memorial at the Arlington Convention Center. Guards screened grieving fans with security wands as they came to pay tribute to Abbott, former guitarist for the heavy metal band PANTERA.
Abbott, 38, was shot to death last week in Columbus, Ohio, while performing with his new band, DAMAGEPLAN. Three others also were killed before police killed 25-year-old gunman Nathan Gale.
Wylde and Van Halen shared the stage, downing shots of liquor and talking about their fellow guitarist.
"A whole part of my life is gone," Wylde said. "It's all about family. It's all about God." The crowd saved its loudest applause for Abbott's brother, Vinnie Paul Abbott, who patted a life-sized cardboard cutout of his brother holding a guitar and encouraged the crowd to chant his brother's name, a chant he said he hadn't heard in five days.
Vinnie Paul said his brother gave everything he had every night and "went down" doing what he loved.
Messages such as "RIP Dime" and "Honk, honk for Dimebag, Peace in the after life" were scrawled on cars in the convention center parking lot. Before the memorial, a high-pitched guitar solo blared from 19-year-old Jennifer White's pickup. White, a "PANTERA" button on her shirt, said Abbott was a legend.
"He's just as big as Jimi Hendrix but in a different way," she said.
Her friend Skyler Smith, 18, added: "A legend died on Wednesday night. I guarantee I'll be telling my kids about this day and the day that he died. ...My heart was broken."
"Today's really been the start of the healing process. The service was beautiful," said singer/guitarist Jerry Cantrell of the 1990s rock band ALICE IN CHAINS, referring to a private funeral earlier in the day.
Cantrell said he was heartened by the fans who packed the public memorial service.
"It makes me feel a lot better," he said.
Fans braving the near-freezing temperatures cheered the arrival of flower arrangements in the shape of guitars and a display with the words "Crown the Moment, Crown Royal," a reference to Abbott's favorite brand of whiskey.
Michael Schaefer, 21, of Garland, and his wife, Raedene, 20, both wore black PANTERA concert shirts.
"It's still a real shock, the fact that it actually happened and the fact that someone would want to hurt him," Michael Schaefer said.
"It's terrible, man. He was the nicest fella you would ever want to meet," said Rick Cunningham, 48, of Euless.
Cunningham was one of the few of the thousands waiting in line who wore a suit and tie to the service. Cunningham, a former lead singer for a Dallas band called "Rage" and strip club manager said he'd known Abbott for 20 years.
Abbott had formed DAMAGEPLAN with his brother and drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott after they left PANTERA.
Abbott attended Arlington High School and lived in nearby Dalworthington Gardens.
The memorial service was put together by Vinnie Paul Abbott along with Paul Bassman Management Company, Pinnacle Entertainment and AEG Live, South, said Paula McElheney, who is with AEG, a promoter."

ARCH ENEMY, CRADLE OF FILTH Cancel Final Show
- December 14, 2004
ARCH ENEMY guitarist Michael Amott has posted this message on the band's official website:
"NIGHTMARE IN NYC!!!!!
We're here at the Irving Plaza as you know, and we've just been given some devastating news. The show has been cancelled tonight, due to reasons entirely beyond our control. We have been told that Dani from Cradle of Filth has been taken ill and they cannot do the show tonight. When the promoter found out, he decided to pull the entire show, even though Arch Enemy was more than ready and to go ahead and just play the show anyway. We talked with our friends in Bleeding Through and Himsa and they thought the same as us - we all wanted to play.
We are totally, totally gutted about this. We cannot believe this decision from the promoter, but we've been told there is NOTHING we (or anybody else) can do about it. Worst of all, it's a sold out show, so we know how many people will be disappointed. The guys from Himsa even got on the phone to other promoters and venues in the area, to see if we could all go and play a three band show somewhere else, but with such short notice it just isn't happening.
I just don't know what else to say, we are all sitting here stunned right now. This has been one of our best ever US tours, and to end it like this, totally powerless, just SUCKS BEYOND BELIEF!! We are so on fire right now, the last week of shows have been amazing, this one was shaping up to be even better! Talk about a total let-down.
As you can imagine it's total chaos at the venue right now, I'm gonna get kicked off this machine soon - no doubt there'll be more on this subject from me soon but as you know we're flying to London in the morning for our big show (at least there's still that to look forward to)! Anyway, just wanted to say 'sorry' to all our fans in NYC who were coming along to see us; I'm sure you'll understand that there was nothing we could do here, but we will be back to see you next year..."

DIMEBAG DARRELL - Private Funeral/Memorial Planned
- December 13, 2004
The Fort Worth/Dallas Star-Telegram has posted this report:
"ARLINGTON - Organizers have rented enough space to accommodate thousands of mourners for Tuesday night's service in honor of the late "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott, the former PANTERA guitarist, who was slain onstage last week.
Funeral services will be private, but organizers were scurrying on Monday to work out public memorial details. Plans call for a 750-person VIP section with folding chairs, separated from the public by barriers, in the Arlington Convention Center's 30,000-square-foot Grand Hall.
Abbott, 38, who grew up in Arlington, and three other people were killed when an armed man jumped onstage during a DAMAGEPLAN concert in Columbus, Ohio. Abbott was performing with the heavy metal band, which he and his brother, Vinnie Paul Abbott, formed after leaving PANTERA. The gunman, Nathan Gale, 25, was killed by a police officer.
Off-duty Arlington police officers will provide security during the public memorial, said event coordinator Scott Magness, and guards will use metal detectors to screen visitors.
DAMAGEPLAN manager Paul Bassman said that security will be "extremely tight."
Details regarding the hastily organized event continued to unfold throughout Monday.
Said Bassman, "They're editing videos right now to show."
No live music was planned as of Monday, but Bassman didn't rule out impromptu performances.
"All the planning is taking place minute-by-minute," said Magness. "There is a stage, but as of yet we don't know what's gonna happen on that stage."
The event is being produced by AEG Live, a promotion company that also runs Nokia Theatre in Grand Prairie.
"There will be video involved," said AEG vice president Danny Eaton. "I know there's a lot of people coming in for this."

SIX FEET UNDER Vocalist Remembers Dimebag Darrell
- December 13, 2004
SIX FEET UNDER vocalist Chris Barnes has posted this message on the band's official website:
"Life is too short my friends ...life is too short. I was lucky enough to meet Dime a few years back when I was in Dallas for a tattoo convention and getting some work done on a tattoo that Paul Booth was working on. Anyway, me and Paul and some friends decided to go see KID ROCK, who was playing in town. During the show, Dime came out on stage and joined the band - it was awesome. After the show, Paul asked if I'd come backstage with him and Paul asked me if I would show Darrell the tattoo work he was doing on me. And I was like, 'Sure.' Man, was I nervous as hell when I went back there - but you know what Dime was cool as hell to me and complimented me on the tattoo. It was just a real cool experience getting to meet him.
I was always a big PANTERA fan, and when I heard the news last Wednesday night, all I could think of how lucky I was to meet Darrell and how back in 1994 when I was on my last U.S. tour with CANNIBAL CORPSE, we were playing a show in L.A., chillin' on the bus, it was about two hours before the show, we were all just sittin' around playin video games and such. So Rob walks in the bus with a couple of guys, one was in the opening band and one was a friend of the guy in the opening band. Anyway, to make a long story short, the guy from the opening band shook my hand and then started talking about his friend that was standing next to him facing me, and how he was just released from prison and how they came there to kill me because of the lyrics I was writing at the time - "Butchered At Birth" and "Tomb...", mainly - saying that I should be killed for singing about killing babies... and at that point his friend lifted his shirt and took out a 9-mm from the front of his waistband.
He remained silent while the other guy kept saying they were going to kill me for writing lyrics like that. Just at that moment, my tour manager at the time, Doug Goodman, came on the bus and saw the situation. Doug has a real positive attitude and personality and luckily somehow in like a split second, he talked to these guys and got them off the bus guarding me at the same time. It was so fucked up and I wouldn't have played the show that night if it weren't for Doug Goodman, Mike Faley from Metal Blade and about 15 other people, and fans from the club surrounding me as they escorted me into the club for the show.
I'm tellin' you - I have always known ever since that day that it is possible that one of us could be easily be killed doing what we do. But dwelling on that does no good at all, you really can't protect yourself too much from fate or whatever. But I know what we can ALL do. We can celebrate each of our lives every day by doing the things we enjoy like going to shows and embracing music with all our heart and not being afraid. Because that's what its all about. Doing all we can while we are here and have a good fucking time doin' it - that's what I've been doin' and what I plan on doing for a long fuckin' time, because life is too short, my friends. RIP Dime. You fuckin rule!"

DAMAGEPLAN Issue Statements
- December 10, 2004
As has been widely reported in the media, Elektra/Atlantic recording group DAMAGEPLAN suffered a horrible tragedy at their show in Columbus, Ohio on Wednesday night (December 8).
Guitarist Dimebag Darrell was shot and killed, as was the band's head of security, Jeffrey "Mayhem" Thompson, an employee of the club, Erin Halk, and a member of the audience, Nathan Bray. Chris Paluska, a member of the band's management team who was serving as tour manager, was shot and is in critical but stable condition. John "Kat" Brooks, the band's drum tech, was also shot and is being released from the hospital today.
The surviving members of DAMAGEPLAN have issued these statements:
"With all his greatness and accomplishments on the guitar, Dime will be missed more for his giving personality, charisma, caring for others, love and most of all his HEART!! Twice as big as the state of TEXAS!!!!!!!!!!!! Dime gave it all every day to each and every one of us and our lives have forever been hollowed without him...Thanks to all of you for reaching out to us in this time of our immeasurable loss. REST IN PEACE BROTHER DIME!!!!!!"
"Jeffrey 'Mayhem' Thompson was not just a true part of the DAMAGEPLAN family, but part of the whole Dallas music scene. He was friend to all, with a great personality. He bent over backward to help us all with his trademark phrases like 'What can I do for you sir?' and 'Coming up!' He also stated his willingness to protect us, saying 'I'd take a bullet for ya,' and unfortunately did in defense of our lives. He truly lived and died for his friends and made the ultimate sacrifice, giving his life to save ours. For this we will never forget. You will be missed big man."

MEGADETH Drummer Issues DIMEBAG DARRELL Statement
- December 10, 2004
MEGADETH drummer Shawn Drover has issued this statement on the band's official website:
"I get a phone-call at 2 o'clock in the morning from Dave Mustaine, at which I could barely hear him from his very soft-spoken monotone voice - I knew immediately something was wrong - there was - The conversation that transpired was completely unfathomable to me!!!! Among the millions of thought's racing through my mind, "WHY" seemed the most prominent question to ask, and still is!!! Musician's possess a special gift - providing music for people to ENJOY - It harnesses and evokes so many different emotion's for people to grasp - happiness, aggression, sadness, whatever the case, in the end it is to entertain the listener, which is a possitive thing - how something this tragic could possibly happen has left all of us at a complete loss. ( I usually do not speak for others, but I think its justified here )
My love for Pantera has run deep since "CFH" was 1st released - What has always remained in my memory is that Pantera was about playing Heavy Metal, despite what trend was popular at the time. It was always about the "MUSIC" for those dude's, which to me means everything and is the exact same thought process I apply to music as well.
This is just completely tragic................"

German metal legends ACCEPT have reunited for a few festivals shows in 2005, which will feature a "best of" set.
"With U.D.O., I always play different ACCEPT songs and thus I know pretty exact what the fans want to hear. Wolf, whom I met for the first time since eight years now, has the same set list in mind. But we don't want to give away everything in advance", frontman Udo Dirkschneider explains. "We're really looking forward to playing these shows and we won't disappoint any ACCEPT fan for sure!"
ACCEPT will kick off at the Rock Hard Festival which takes places at the Amphitheatre Gelsenkirchen in Germany on May 13 – 15 2005. "Besides the Rock Hard Festival we will only play Wacken in Germany, a tour is definitely not planned", Udo states. "We will play at the Sweden Rock Festival as Scandinavia was one of the biggest markets for ACCEPT ever, and perhaps at two or three more open airs in Europe. Afterwards I'll focus on U.D.O. again completely."
In cooperation with ACCEPT manager Gaby Hoffmann, Nuclear Blast adopts the publicity for the forthcoming festival season. Another result out of the cooperation contact is an exclusive merchandise deal for the upcoming festivals which also includes classic ACCEPT items.

DAMAGEPLAN - Dimebag Darrell Killed In Ohio Shooting
- December 8, 2004
This report is directly from www.nbc4i.com in Columbus, Ohio:
"COLUMBUS, Ohio -- At least five people died and two others were wounded after a shooting at a Columbus nightclub on Wednesday night, NBC 4 reported.
The shooting took place shortly after 10 p.m. at Alrosa Villa, located at 5055 Sinclair Road.
Two members of the heavy metal band DAMAGEPLAN were reportedly shot and killed, including Dimebag Darrell, formerly with the band Pantera, NBC 4's David Wayne reported. The other band member's name was not released. The alleged gunman also died at the scene, Wayne reported.
Shortly after the band began playing its first song, a man reportedly ran onto the stage and began shooting, according to a witness who identified himself as Sean. Some members of the audience reportedly thought the man running onto the stage with a gun was part of the band's act, NBC 4's Erin Tate reported.
Witnesses said that several shots were fired at the band. Witnesses said that a bouncer at the club tackled the alleged gunman before that person was shot and killed. It was unclear as to whom shot the alleged gunman.
NBC 4 reported that of the surviving victims, one person was in critical condition while the other was in fair condition. Several others were treated at the scene, suffering from various injuries.
Alrosa Villa is a popular north Columbus nightspot for young adults, featuring rock and heavy metal bands, NBC 4 reported.
According to the band's Web site, DAMAGEPLAN was touring nationally. It performed in Buffalo, N.Y., on Tuesday night and had a concert scheduled in Flint, Mich., on Thursday.
DAMAGEPLAN featured former PANTERA artists Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul. The pair were joined by vocalist Patrick Lachman and bassist Bobzilla, according to their Web site."

THE CENTURY FAMILY's Christmas Balls
- December 8, 2004
Come one, come all to ye olde Christmas BallS! The Century Family cranks it to 11 with their Christmas celebration Monday, December 20 at the Key Club in Los Angeles. You thought Santa was bringing coal, merrily he's bringing a night filled with hard rockin' metal acts representing their label imprints: STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, DEATH ANGEL, NEBULA, IMPALED, and EYES OF FIRE. Whether you've been naughty or nice. Century Media's elves are assembling stockings filled with heavy metal trimmings for raffle and there will also be lots of free musical goodies. Bringing toys for all metal girls and boys Santa's sleigh delivers headliners Vancouver, Canada's STRAPPING YOUNG LAD. Century Media veterans, the band released their first DVD, entitled "For Those Aboot To Rock", on November 2, and will unchain their new full-length album, "Alien", on March 22, 2005.
Thrashing Santa's sleigh bells to a demonic hell-bent beat is Nuclear Blast recording artist and Bay Area legends DEATH ANGEL. After a 14-year hiatus 2004 has seen the band return with a new album, "The Art Of Dying", and a spate of incredible shows including Germany's prestigious Wacken Open Air. DEATH ANGEL were immortalized by the thrash-trinity "The Ultra Violence", "Frolic Through The Park" and "Act III", all recorded between 1987 and 1990.
Liquor and Poker Music adds fuel to the rampaging Christmas tree filled bonfire with Los Angeles' own electric guitar-charged artist NEBULA. 2004 has been NEBULA's year as the band has toured with Clutch, Mastodon, and Local H, and also they headlined two U.S. tours. NEBULA are also featured in Tony Hawk’s forthcoming video game, Thug 2, and have had tracks on Bam's "Viva La Bam" on MTV.
Like Santa's evil gremlins, San Francisco's purveyors in blood-soaked dementia IMPALED will surgically disembowel the audience in anticipation of their March 8, 2005 Century Media debut, "Death After Life". The band have fed a frenzied need in gore-ridden music around the U.S. and soon the world will feast on IMPALED's hemorrhaging viscera.
Jingling bells to their mournful Christmas tune is Orange County-based EYES OF FIRE. Formed by Dan Kaufman and Matt Fisher, formerly of Mindrot, the band's sound is a monstrous pounding blend of tribal and atmospheric sounds mixed into a heavily guitar-driven attack.
Tickets are available at The Key Club box office, or at ticketmaster. Fifteen dollars gets you in to witness our rockin' jingle bells, a price even a Scrooge could love.

AMON AMARTH Release New Video
- December 8, 2004
Swedish viking masters AMON AMARTH have finished shooting their first video for the new album "Fate Of Norns". The chosen song is "The Pursuit Of Vikings" and the video turned out great!
Young directors Philipp Hirsch and Heiko Tippelt brought in some great ideas and did an awesome job in filming and editing the clip as well. "We recorded the video in an old abandoned railway house in Bischofswerda, close to Dresden, Germany", says singer Johan Hegg. "We got to work a lot with pyrotechnics, and using that indoors of course created a lot of soot, so we were blowing black snot out of our noses for about four days afterwards. The recording took all day, about ten hours all in all, and after that we were supposed to perform on stage for 90 minutes. Needless to say, we were all pretty damn tired after that day, but in the end it was all worth it. The video turned out great in my opinion, and the film team really managed to capture the mood of the song in the video."
Look for the video soon on MTV2's Headbanger’s Ball and FUSE's Uranium.

ARCH ENEMY Guitarist Issues Update From The Road
- December 4, 2004
ARCH ENEMY guitarist Michael Amott has issued this update on the band's official website:
"We are currently in freezing Edmonton, Canada…it took us 17 hours to drive from Vancouver to here…we drove through the mountains and there was really nothing else but ice and snow…and then some more ice and snow! We saw some beautiful nature, and some really cool wildlife like eagles and a ram crossing the road - very impressive for us Swedes! :-)
The shows have been going extremely well on this tour, it's been a lot of fun! And I must say that we are slightly surprised and totally honoured that Cradle Of Filth's fanbase has taken to us so well! We played Vancouver for the first time ever 2 days ago and that was really a killer show, great crowd...we'll be back!!!
In San Francisco we met up with Steve Smyth (ex-Testament now in Nevermore) and hung out for a while before we hit the stage at the Fillmore (wow, lots of history in that venue...!). In Seattle we met up with the rest of the Nevermore dudes, the guys from our favourite band were in great shape and spirit! Can't wait for their next album...I am sure it'll be killer!
Talking of new stuff, we have been able to write some new riffs for the next Arch Enemy studio opus while on the road- well, I don't wanna hype this too much...but these are some of the coolest, melodic, angriest and tech riffs I have heard in long time! Ha!
We will spend a couple of weeks off with our families and friends back home over the holidays (I am sure you will grant us that?).
In the new year we are setting up the recording equipment in our "Dungeon Of Steel" rehearsal studio and start the pre-production of the new album - we are very much looking forward to getting our teeth sunk into this new material...2005 is going to be a good year!!! To end this report I would like to say a BIG thank you to all our fans and friends that have supported us on this tour...!!!"

EXODUS - Gary Holt Checks In
- December 3, 2004
EXODUS guitarist Gary Holt has posted this message on the band's official website:
"Well, it's been a grind, with the Brasil trip directly preceeding this tour and all, but I must say what a pleasure this tour has been. My hat is off to Dave, Glen, Shawn, and Jimmy for treating us so damn well on this entire tour. The way they went out of their way the help us any way they could was simply awesome. We never felt that we were just another support band. It felt like family. Reconnecting with an old friend like Dave was more than I could of hope for, and seeing them all come out on stage when we played Deranged ( after much harrassment from the brothers Drover for os to play that song ) wearing Halloween masks was just the icing on the cake. They were all wearing their tour jackets, so that was my only way of identifying them. ( Dave was Darth Vader, by the way!) We followed suit by wearing rubber ducks noses for our version of "Quack in the day"! We tried getting our hands on full ducks suits, but to no avail! My thanks also go out to every member of their crew for ruling bigtime!
And to every fan I had the pleasure of meeting on this tour, a big hello and thanks to all of you!"

HELLOWEEN - Pre-production Underway For New Album
- December 2, 2004
Producer Charlie Bauerfeind has posted this update on his official website:
"Finally we started the pre-production phase of the next HELLOWEEN record abuot a week ago. The guys are allready in songwriting and rehearsal-mode since month and are working very hard to shape up some truly great songs. I joined them for the first time on 24th of Novemmber in their rehearsalroom and got some great vibes. Sascha (Gerstner)and Stefan (Schwarzmann) seem to be solidly integrated now into HELLOWEEN and everything was sounding really tight. The keyboards also melt very well into the soundpicture. German keyboard veteran Friedl Amon, who used to mastermind hardrock/"metal" shootingstar formation REVOLVER in the early 80's, adds some great stuff to the lot. He will handle the keyboard-arrangements at his studio in Germany throughout the next months.
I think we'll gonna be starting to record the basic trax at around mid of December and after a short christmas break, commence our work till March 2005.
I'll keep you posted how things evolve."

KRISIUN Destroy Europe, U.S. Next
- December 1, 2004
Brazil's KRISIUN have returned home after destroying Europe. Headlining Europe for the first time, the "Clash Of The Demigods" tour took the Brazilian death metal masters, who were supporting the European release of their new compilation album "Bloodshed", across the continent playing more than 25 shows with BEHEMOTH, INCANTATION and RAGNAROK. Amazing their devoted hordes, the band delivered the most furiously aggressive and brutal death metal. The combination of the ultra-fast songs from "Conquerors Of Armageddon" with the maniacally heavy tracks from "Bloodshed" made their live set as brutal as a sledgehammer to the face.
Drummer Max Kolesne sent a big horns up to fans, with this: "Hails brothers in America! We just got back from a killer European tour, and can't wait to come to the U.S. and destroy with our ultra violent death metal. We know, you metal freaks hunger for brutality, and we will come for you all! So be prepared, KRISIUN's Satanic Death metal machine gun fire is on the attack!"
KRISIUN's "Bloodshed" will be released in the U.S. on February 8, 2005 through Century Media Records. The band is currently planning to tour the U.S. extensively.

CRADLE OF FILTH Comment On Denver Show Incident
- December 1, 2004
Police in Denver, Colorado are looking for a man who dove into the audience during CRADLE OF FILTH's show on November 22 at the Ogden Theatre, critically injuring a 28-year-old woman. Valarie Markle, a waitress from Farmington, New Mexico, suffered a broken neck and was in intensive care on Saturday at Denver Health Medical Center. Markle had undergone surgery recently, and there is concern she might be left partially paralyzed, her husband said.
"It didn't happen until the last few seconds of the last song," her husband said Saturday. "We didn't even realize what was happening till the band walked off the stage."
A man described as being heavy-set climbed atop a guard railing near the stage and jumped on top of the 5-foot-5, 150-pound woman, driving her head to the floor. Police say the man then ran into the crowd and could not be found.
CRADLE OF FILTH have posted this message on their official website regarding the incident:
"We got news today of someone who was seriously hurt in DenverI remember at the end of our set as we walked off stage, lots of security guards went into the pit and I instructed our tour manager to check it out, as I was concerned something had gone seriously wrong. I saw a couple of fans jumping into the pit from above before the end of the song and thought it was way out of line. I want people to know we, as a band, do not condone anything like crowd violence. We spend a lot of time and effort trying to entertain our fans in other ways. It's a shame when something like this happens and we hope the person injured is ok."
