METALEATER IS EXPANDING
METALEATER is launching a full-scale search to recruit the most passionate, creative, competent, professional, dedicated, enthusiastic, motivated and Metal-obsessed individuals to join our crusade in presenting the world with the highest quality Metal content available anywhere.
METALEATER wants to add approximately ten new writers to its crew, specifically to review albums/DVDs, conduct interviews and write various articles. In order to qualify for consideration, applicants must meet ALL of the following requirements:
- First and foremost, applicants must be professional and respectful and conduct themselves as such at all times. METALEATER is a Metal entity that holds high standards in this industry, and we take what we do seriously.
- Applicants must be interested in joining the METALEATER family for the long-term. We are not interested in hiring individuals who are looking for a short-term "hobby" or something to keep them busy for a couple of months. SERIOUS APPLICANTS ONLY please.
- Applicants may be from any part of the world, but must be fluent in English as we are an English language web-based publication.
- Applicants must have substantial knowledge of multiple sub-genres of Metal, including bands, members, album releases and history. Informational accuracy is an absolute must.
- We seek individuals with a degree of experience in writing (does not have to be Metal-related). Formal education in communications and/or journalism is not a requirement, but you must display a high level of competence in grammar, punctuation, and semantics.
- Applicants are expected to write honestly at all times. As a member of METALEATER it is your duty to provide your readers with an honest perspective always. We are dedicated to informing Metal fans with reliable content and as such it is our duty to impart the bad along with the good.
- Applicants must be willing and able to take direction and accept constructive criticism. METALEATER strives to maintain the integrity of the work of its writers, but also reserves the right to make corrections relative to maintaining consistency standards established by METALEATER.
- Applicants must display an ability to write creatively, providing material that is not only informational but entertaining as well.
- Profanity is not a verb, an adjective, or a noun, nor does it serve a concrete purpose in any professional composition. Creativity and intelligence always win out over vulgarity. That said, you are able to express your opinion without feeling the need to rip someone's head off.
- As a member of the METALEATER family, you will be held to the standards it upholds. You will share the successes and you will share the burdens. Therefore, you must be active and consistent in your role, which includes meeting deadlines and completing material you are assigned.
- Your contributions will be recognized and valued by METALEATER and will not be without reward. In return, you will be given the opportunity to listen to some of the best music around (before the general public does), attend select concerts, speak to your favorite Metal musicians, and perhaps most rewarding of all, feel the sense of accomplishment of contributing your talent to the Metal industry - with your name in print.
If you feel you have what it takes, are confident that you meet all of the above mentioned qualifications and are certain that you can meet the expectations of contributing to METALEATER on a consistent basis, please submit an e-mail to Brian[at]metaleater.com containing the following criteria:
- In the subject line of your e-mail write "Contributing writer inquiry for METALEATER".
- Include at least one paragraph outlining specifically (in detail) WHY you are interested in becoming part of the METALEATER family, why you feel you would be an asset, and outline the genre(s) of Metal that you feel you are most knowledgeable in and would like to cover on METALEATER.
- If you have previous writing experience in Metal journalism, submit links or text with examples of one positive review and one negative review as well as articles and/or interviews. If you do not have previous writing experience, choose an album that you like and one that you dislike, and submit your thoughts on each in review format. What you write will determine your compatibility with our standards and expectations, so give us your best! (Note: Reviews must be 300-400 words in length and articles must be 500-700 words).
- Include your name, e-mail address, a phone number and times (with your local time zone) that you are available to be contacted for an interview.
METALEATER thanks you for your interest, and we look forward to hearing from you.
